'Twas the night before April Fools Day, when all through the house
Not a prankster was stirring, not even a shocking pen;
The whoopie cushions were hung beneath pillows with care,
In hopes that an April’s fool, soon would sit there;

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of fart machines danced in their heads;
And mamma in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled down for a long nap,
When out on the lawn, I heard all the chatter.
I sprang from the bed to see who was fooling around.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the shine of the fake coin below.
Gave the lustre of mid-day to the funny objects below,
When, what to my wondering prankster eyes should appear,
But a bag full of prank gag gifts for all
Happy April Fools Day!
